First 3 Harvests

10th Avenue Grape Juice

10th Avenue Grape Juice

So far this week, we’ve had three harvests – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

We’ve picked apples, pears, plums and grapes.

Thursday night’s harvest leader wrote,

“Thursday evening 9 of us carefully untangled 126 lbs. of grapes vining through the branches of a beautiful tree.  These lovely, delicious, purple seedless grapes will be processed into juice, jam, and fruit leather by the homeowner and harvesters.  Ronald McDonald House, the YWCA and Odyssey House all received fresh fruit.”

From these three harvests, the generous homeowners donated 120 lbs of pears, 5 lbs of apples, 30 pounds of plums and 90 pounds of grapes.

Many thanks to the homeowners and volunteers.

Avenues Street Fair

Freelance writer and Aves FruitShare fan Andrew Dash Gillman posted this Avenues Street Fair reminder in Local First Utah. Indeed, neighborhood fresh fruit is local, and we share that goal with other community partners. Thanks Andrew!

FruitShare Summer Kick-off

Join your neighbors for a potluck picnic as we prepare for a fruitful harvest season.

Lindsey Gardens
9th Ave & M Street
Saturday June 4th, 4p-7p

Bring a dish to share, if you can.  Children welcome.  If you play an acoustic instrument, please bring it along, too.

In 2010, we donated over 1,000 lbs. of fruit.  Let’s build on a successful season:  bring a friend who may be interested in joining a harvest team, or registering their tree for harvest.
